Join us on St. Patrick's day in St. Francisville for the fifth annual "No Such Thing as Impossible" bike ride, a fundraiser to raise some "green" for Wheels to Succeed. Money raised is used to buy specially adapted bikes for children with disabilities.
This bike ride has three distance options for adult cyclists of all abilities:
8:00am: 75miles (SEE ROUTE)*
9:30am: 40miles (SEE ROUTE)
11:00am: 10miles--(SEE ROUTE)
*Disregard route title; all map links are for 2013 ride and mileage!
The event will celebrate the 75th birthday of Jairo Alvarez, a local businessman, author, and philanthropist who is a valuable supporter of Wheels to Succeed. Of course, we'll also be celebrating St. Patrick's day!
Your $40 registration fee includes the ride, a green Brooks technical fabric shirt, sag stops with port-a-potties, sag wagons, course markings, maps, pre-race snacks (courtesy of Whole Foods Market) and coffee, water and electrolyte drinks, hot post-ride lunch (courtesy of J&D Catering), soft drinks, and door prizes. Most importantly, your money supports children in need of adapted bikes funded by Wheels to Succeed!!! Day-of registration will be available at the event for $50. Those who register after Monday, February 25 are not guaranteed a shirt; extra shirts will be available at the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
DOOR PRIZES donated so far include two $50 gift cards to New Balance Baton Rouge, three $15 gift cards to Jason's Deli, gift cards for a massage and a facial at Massage Envy, a Magnolia Cafe gift bag, a Raising Cane's gift basket, a Community Coffee sampler pack, a one-night stay at Shadetree Inn Bed & Breakfast, a group history tour of the Myrtles Plantation, a signed keepsake bike vest from Pedal Play, and other bike-related items from the Bicycle Shop and Capitol Cyclery. Registration bags will include discounts and coupons for local businesses including Smoothie King and Massage Envy. Stay tuned because this list is growing! Adults who pre-registered in the month of January will receive a Wheels to Succeed lunch tote as part of your registration packet!
For event newcomers, we start and end at the West Feliciana Sports Park Pavilion, all the way at the end of CR-202/West Feliciana Parkway (slightly past the point on the Google map at right). Registration/packet pick-up begins at 7am. ALL CYCLISTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS!
Children and families interested in learning about Wheels to Succeed, being evaluated for an adapted bike, or testing one of our demos are invited to join us from 11am until 1pm. This time will include a bike demo booth and two fun rides, one around the pavilion area and a longer one along the drive of West Feliciana Sports Park. Fun rides are also open to "alumni" and children/teens who already have adapted bikes. All children on bikes are REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS!

Established in 1954, McMains Children’s Developmental Center is a United Way Community Partner and United Cerebral Palsy affiliate. The mission of McMains CDC is to identify and treat children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and learning disabilities to enable them to reach their potential and to function as independently as possible. Wheels to Succeed formed in 2007 as a partner program of McMains, and the program's goals are to provide children with physical disabilities their own adapted three-wheeled bikes as well as opportunities to ride these bikes in free organized activities. Since the start of the Wheels to Succeed program, over 60 specially adapted bikes have been given to children in South Louisiana. Every child should have the opportunity to ride a bike!
